If you’ve been looking for a Louisiana journeyman electrician license, the state doesn’t issue one. It doesn’t issue a master license either. Those come from your parish or city, and each one sets its own rules.
What Louisiana does license is the contractor. The Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors handles that, statewide, and it applies to the business taking the job rather than to you personally.
So there are two questions, and they have different answers. What do I need to work as an electrician? Ask your parish. What do I need to take jobs myself? That’s the state.
